Phd Title: Developing water quality criteria for lakes in rapidly urbanizing catchments
Phd Guide: Priyanka Jamwal

My researchfocusses on understanding the linkages between water chemistry, aquatic plants and birds and stakeholders for urban lakes in Bengaluru. The objective is to study the various components which impact lake water chemistry such as lake catchment characteristics and lake management approaches and the impact of lake water chemistry on biotic components present at the lakes and people’s perception about the lakes’ water quality. The information collected on these components will be synthesized to develop a water quality criteria for urban lakes which can be used by different stakeholders to develop rejuvenation or management targets related to lake water quality and allow for citizen based monitoring of the lake water quality.
