PI:

Team:

The overall goal is to assess the conservation status of the genus Cremnoconchus of the Western Ghats and create an action plan to assess, and also reassess, the conservation status of all its members in the region. It will be of use to state forest department and other stakeholders who can implement such a plan. This will include identification of sensitive sites, understanding activities that are potentially damaging to the extant subpopulations as well as implementing regimes that could protect water flow. It will be important to understand potential vulnerability to climate change as weather patterns may change in the next 20 years. We also seek to disseminate the outcome of the project in various media including print and electronic.
