Madegowda. C did his BSW, MSW, MSc, PGDPM and Ph.D. in Social work, He is working at the field station of Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) in B. R. Hills as a Post-doctoral Fellow and Coordinator He has 24 years of experience working with indigenous tribal people and biodiversity conservation in Karnataka. His work includes participatory resource monitoring (PRM), sustainable harvesting of non-timber forest produce, mapping of culturally sacred sites, community-based conservation, His works include the implementation of Forest rights Act,2006, and empowering indigenous communities’ movements. He also works in Non-Timber Forest Products value addition and marketing of Adavi Products.

His research areas include tribal development, traditional knowledge, policy, Political ecology, education, socio-economic, health, culture, biodiversity conservation, and Indigenous language. He presented many papers in National and International seminars, conference, workshops and he published 22 research papers in National and International journals and books. He has given many gust lectures/talks, He facilitations by many civil society organization, He also member of the Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra, B.R.Hills, Vice , President of LAMPS , B.R.Hills, Member of District Level Forest Rights committee and ST welfare committee, Chamarajanagar, Secretary of two NTFPs processing Sanghas of Adavi products. Secretary of Zilla Budakattu Girijana Abhivrudhi Sangha.
