Fifty years ago, over 2,000 scientists issued a stark warning about environmental degradation and the threat of nuclear war. This declaration, known as the Menton Message. To mark its 50th anniversary, a group of scientists gathered to revisit and update the Menton Message. The outcome was A Letter to Fellow Citizens of Earth, also distilled in an article published in Nature. Sharachchandra Lele, one of the principal authors of the 2022 letter and the Nature article, engaged in a candid conversation examined various aspects of the letter, challenging the notion that we are entirely on the wrong path, while recognising the urgent need for change.
