ATREE, with support from ICIMOD, is implementing this project along the Mechi River in the Indo-Nepal border in India, focusing on building institutional capacity for comprehensive human-elephant conflict mitigation strategies. The project is located at Tarabari in Naxalbari, Darjeeling district, and is executed under the Human-Elephant Coexistence programme through Darjeeling CCC. 

The project aims to enhance community tolerance towards Asian elephants in the Kanchenjunga Landscape. Activities include consultations, awareness campaigns and the establishment of safe watch towers.
