Sneha is a PhD student working with Dr. Shrinivas Badiger. She has completed her Masters in Environmental Science from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat. Sneha is Plastic campaign advocate for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), New Delhi. She works to increase action and awareness on SDG 6 (Water and Sanitation) through a network of partners and grassroots leaders across India. Her notable work includes restoring streams inhabited by crocodiles in Gujarat with a team of students by her side. Sneha’s doctoral work focuses on co-evolution of rivers and societies, in a study that engages in understanding past v/s present through social-ecological systems framework for the river Tamiraparani in Tamil Nadu. Apart from her academic pursuits, Sneha is also actively engaged in community outreach programs and environmental education initiatives. She believes in the importance of raising awareness and fostering a sense of environmental stewardship among local communities. She has won national and international awards such as Youth for Earth Award by Mobius Foundation and Young Reporters for Environment by Centre for Environment and Education (CEE), She was also an invited speaker at the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC, 2022). Her work on restoration and community mobilisation through the mode of documentaries and short films has been highlighted on National Geographic and Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
