I am a zoologist with a passion for freshwater ecology. My journey in ecology began with a deep interest in birds, which gradually led me to explore the often overlooked but essential world of freshwater bivalves. Freshwater bivalves are frequently unnoticed due to their subtle appearance and the rarity of spotting them in rivers, yet the services they provide to freshwater environments are remarkable. Studying these species is crucial to better understanding the complex relationships within freshwater systems, which ultimately supports effective conservation strategies.
My fieldwork is rooted in the river ecosystems of Karnataka, where I examine the ecological roles of bivalves and the challenges these ecosystems face from habitat alteration and pollution. Through my research, I aim to highlight how even the smallest or least conspicuous organisms play essential roles in maintaining the health and resilience of aquatic environments. I believe that increasing our knowledge about freshwater bivalves can help foster greater appreciation and informed action for the protection of these vital habitats.
In addition to my research, I am an avid sports enthusiast and a trained athlete. I enjoy unwinding with crochet, creating vibrant designs for fun. I also like to turn every meal into an opportunity to experiment with new flavours or dishes. And of course, a good coffee is a must!!
