The Bee Garden Project

The Bee Garden Project is a citizen-science initiative for studying cavity-nesting bees in an urban setting. Bee hotels designed and set up across Bengaluru help capture spatially explicit data on cavity-nesting bees. Bee activity is monitored via a smartphone app. Through this study, we hope to improve our understanding of solitary bee ecology in the city and work towards designing pollinator-inclusive urban landscapes. We also seek to inspire city-dwellers to take up pollinator-friendly measures at an individual level. For more details, visit-
