Climate variability and extreme events are increasingly affecting nature-based livelihoods across South Tamil Nadu, particularly within agrarian systems. Despite growing recognition of these impacts, there remains limited grounded understanding of how farmers perceive, experience, and respond to changing climatic conditions. Bridging this gap requires field-based engagement that connects lived experiences with broader climate literacy and adaptation efforts.
The Agasthyamalai Community Conservation Centre (ACCC) of ATREE has over three decades of experience in community-based conservation and socio-ecological research in the region. Building on this foundation, the ASPIRE (Agasthyamalai Sustainability Project for Integrated Restoration of Ecosystems) initiative focuses on landscape-level ecological restoration while strengthening nature-based livelihoods through sustained community engagement.
This internship is part of the climate literacy component of the ASPIRE project and aims to generate field-based insights on livelihood vulnerabilities and adaptation practices.
The Field Research Intern will work closely with the ACCC team to conduct field-based data collection and documentation. The role involves engaging with farming communities, facilitating interviews, translating responses, and supporting the organisation of qualitative data related to climate and livelihoods.
Duration: 1 month (extendable up to 3 months)
