Bezwada Wilson is the National Convenor of the Safai Karamchari Andolan (SKA) and has been working as a human rights activist campaigning to eradicate manual scavenging. He has been involved in the construction of community-driven efforts to respond to the continuation of manual scavenging even though it has been announced to be illegal in India since 1993. He received the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2016 in recognition of his immense amount of contribution to preservation of human rights.

In order to dream and work towards a better world we have to come face to face with the existing inhuman practice of manual scavenging (Cleaning human waste from toilets and open drains in India usually performed by Dalit groups at the bottom of the hierarchical caste system) .Despite technological advancements, the practice continues to exist. Join us to hear Magsaysay Awardee, Shri Bezwada Wilson, share his journey , advocacy work and his dream of a better, more humane, more ecological and a more democratic India.
