Basic field-based Angiosperm Taxonomy

ATREE conducted the " Basic field-based Angiosperm Taxonomy" workshop between 27th January and 31st January 2020,  in collaboration with the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science, Assam University, Silchar. The week-long workshop had 30 students and young professionals from the seven north-eastern states. 

The workshop was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Sikkim University.

Vikram Aditya, Rajkamal and Dr. Ganesh received a Bioblitz grant from the National Geographic Society to carry out rapid surveys, focusing on two critically endangered bird species -
Great Indian Bustard in Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary
Jerdon's courser in Lanka Malleshwara Wildlife Sanctuary.

Both sanctuaries are part of the Eastern Ghats landscape in Andhra Pradesh and are home to several other threatened bird and mammal species like the Indian wolf, Bengal fox, blackbuck, leopard, and grassland harrier species like the Montagu and Pallid harrier.

ATREE is working to understand and inform others of the unique issues that affect the ecosystems and communities of India with the aid of freely available geospatial tools like Google Earth and Google Earth Engine.
