Thesis title: Fruiting patterns among canopy trees and fruit use by vertebrates in a wet evergreen forest of Southern Western Ghats, India. Supervisor: Dr.Priya Davidar.

Research Interests
Faunal loss (birds and small mammals) and its consequence on forest dynamics,
Long term changes in tree phenology and understanding factors that contribute
to such changes. Long term changes in vegetation dynamics. Compare and contrast
Pre-dispersal seed predation across tropics. Anthropogenic effects on species
interactions. Long-term changes in populations of migrant raptors in relation
to land use changes. Initiate Canopy research in India to understand species
diversity - canopy relationship.
Current Research
Continue to be involved in monitoring long term phenology of trees and resource
abundance for arboreal animals, and monitoring arboreal mammal abundance in
Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve (KMTR). Monitoring dynamics of key plant
resource for animals. Some of the recent research has been to investigate the
effect of disturbance on pollination by vertebrates in KMTR. Other interest
is to understand the spatial and temporal distribution of a diverse array of lesser-known animal taxa and some functional groups in a protected area. Apart from basic research have been involved with quantifying fuel wood extraction levels in KMTR and implementing a community driven programs to lessen these impacts.
