Swati Sulagna, Senior Research Associate

Education and Experience

Swati Sulagna has PhD in Human Ecology from Department Ecology and Environmental Science, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry(2012). She worked on community adaptations to cyclones in Orissa coast for doctoral thesis. She joined PhD after completing her Masters from Dept of Ecology and Environmental Science, Pondicherry University. For masters project she worked with Chilika Development Authority on impact of boat traffic on surface behaviour of Irrawaddy dolphins at Chilika Lake, Orissa. She also holds a P.G diploma in Environmental Law from National law school University, Bangalore(2006).

Research Interest

Swati Sulagna research interests include disaster risk reduction and community adaptation to cyclones, climate change adaptation and water governance.

Current Studies

Swati will be working on the role of formal and non-formal institutions on water allocation in small and medium urban settlements located in Noyyal River Basin. She will also be looking at drought management strategies both at agency and household level.

Project Working On

Adapting to Climate Change in Urbanizing Watersheds(ACCUWA) funded by International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
