Coastal and marine conservation in India: strengthening policy and governance

Researchers from the Coastal Programme are involved in producing the following critical policy documents:
1. Statement on the CRZ Notification and Post-Tsunami Rehabilitation in Tamil Nadu. This report was commissioned by the UNDP, New Delhi
2. Review of the Swaminathan Committee Report on the CRZ Notification. This report was commissioned by the UNDP, New Delhi.
Restructuring policies and practices to ensure ecologically sustainable and socially responsible eco-tourism

With support from the British High Commission, ATREE hopes to address the issues in ecotourism
and its role in achieving sustainable development. The project focuses on reviewing the strengths
and gaps in the existing eco tourism initiatives in Kerala, Karnataka and Darjeeling and to
come up with a white paper containing a profile of issues, regulations, and best practices

Reorienting Taxation Policies to Conserve Biodiversity & Promote Sustainability of Non-Timber Forest Produce

To determine the feasibility and viability of re-orienting taxation
