Openings for a Junior Research Fellow in a NMPB funded project on “Identification of Elite types, Molecular Characterization and Conservation of Highly-traded and Threatened Medicinal Plants in the Central Western Ghats"

Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) is looking for a suitable candidate for a project on, ‘Identification of Elite types, Molecular Characterization and Conservation of Highly-traded and Threatened Medicinal Plants in the Central Western Ghats’, to be implemented in the Western Ghats. This project, which has been funded by NMPB, will focus on identification of elite individuals, chemical and molecular characterization of selected medicinal plants. The project also focuses on developing nursery techniques of the selected elite types.

Essential qualifications

M. Sc (Forestry/Agriculture) or M. Sc (Botany with NET qualification) from a reputed university. Candidate should be motivated to work on medicinal plants and should be prepared to carry out the fieldwork in the Western Ghats at odd hours. He/she should have good interpersonal and communication skills and should be willing to work in a team. He/She will undertake both the field as well as lab work including research design, sampling in the Western Ghats, chemical and molecular characterization.
