Applications are invited for 2 posts at Dakshin Foundation, Bangalore and the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), Bangalore, as Content Writers for their Environmental Education Programmes.

The job entails creation of a workbook that addresses Sustainable Development in an Indian context. A collaborative endeavour between Dakshin, ATREE and funded by Vigyan Prasar, the book will be an accompaniment to a 52 episode Sustainable Development series to be aired on All India Radio.

One of the positions will involve working closely with Dakshin, while the other would require working with ATREE. Both are short, 4-month posts but have the potential to extend to other opportunities within Dakshin and ATREE.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop content for the workbook in a timely manner.
  • Communicate and coordinate concepts with illustrators and designers.
  • Communicate and coordinate regularly with the other Content Writer.
  • Report at regular intervals and submit updates on the progress of work.

The ideal candidate would:

  • Hold a Bachelor's or a Master’s degree in natural sciences, sustainability education or other relevant disciplines.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of environmental and sustainability issues.
  • Posses experience in scientific writing and content development or proven individual flair for writing.
  • Have experience in undertaking secondary-data based research.
  • Be adept at using computers and ready to learn new software as the situation demands.
  • Have the ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Have the ability and organizational skills to work with tight deadlines.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Share long-term goals that align with each of the organisations’ vision.

Location: Based in Bangalore and work from Dakshin/ATREE office.

Remuneration: 18500-20000/month for four months.
