Research Interests
Marine and coastal resource conservation (especially coral reef ecosystems), conservation and research on the lesser studied fauna (esp. otters, dugongs and marine invertebrates). Conservation efforts involving community level participation/multiple stakeholders and reviving traditional wisdom of the local communities and indigenous people.
Experience
- Research Fellow in the MoEF project titled "Assessment of the Marine Biological Resources of the Great Nicobar Biosphere Reserve".
- Facilitator in the project "Applications of remote sensing and Potential Fishery Zone information to improve fisheries in Kerala" at the Kerala State Remote Sensing and Environment Department.
- Research Fellow at the Nityata Foundation Bangalore on a Project on the "Distribution and Status of the smooth coated otter Lutra perspicillata in and around the Vembanad Lake"
- South Asia Regional coordinator for the EU funded ICRAN-SACEP project titled "Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Development for the conservation and long-term management of MCPA's encompassing coral reefs in South Asia".
