Experience

  • Worked as a research visitor at the Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis, USA on Indian flora in the project on "Digital Database on Plant Resources of India" at ATREE, Bangalore, India; the work involved deciphering herbarium specimens, literature survey and management of databases.
  • Plant database coordinator (for a team of eight members with database experts, programmers and data entry operators) at Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), Bangalore, India which is a recognized scientific research institute from Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi; the work involved documentation (checklist, distribution, taxonomic details, images and preparation of distribution maps etc.) of plant and crop genetic resources of India including two Indian hotspots of biodiversity. This project was funded by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India and S.M. Sehgal foundation, United States of America (USA).
  • Program Coordinator for the 'Eco-informatics' workshop Organized by Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Bangalore, University of Massachusetts (UMASS), Boston, USA and Indo-US Science Technology Forum, New Delhi during June 9-11, 2003.
  • Organizing Secretary for the "International Workshop on Regional Cooperation for Conservation of Biodiversity of Hotspots of the Indian Subcontinent and Taxonomic Databases for Conservation" Bangalore, India during August 30 - 1st, September 2004.

  • Expertise in teaching Genetics, Plant breeding and Crop breeding

Training:

  • CAFNET training programme on methods of acquisition and use of local knowledge in agro forestry development from 30th April 2007 to 12th May, 2007 held at College of Forestry, Ponnampet, South Coorg. Conducted by Dr. Fergus Sinclair, Professor, University of Wales, Bangor, UK.
