Kirubaharan Jeremiah, Senior Research Associate

Education and Experience

Kirubaharan Jeremiah has an M.Tech in Technology and Development(2012) from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and completed B.E in Agricultural and Irrigation Engineering(2010) from College of Engineering Guindy, Chennai. As part of his Master’s thesis he worked on Free and Open Source (FOSS) platforms for integrated water resources management plans using a case study of the Warna River.

Prior to joining ATREE, Kirubaharan was a Project Research Fellow at Interdisciplinary Programme in Climate Studies at IIT Bombay for a year. As part of this effort, he evaluated the application of open source tools especially OpenModelica and QGIS for vulnerability assessment looking at the impacts of climate change on Indian agriculture

Research Interest

Kirubaharan's research interests includes applications of open source tools for development, evidence based water resource planning, impact of water allocation on development and systems analysis of water resources.

Current Work

Kirubaharan is currently studying the role of check dams on hydrologic partitioning in a watershed.

Project Working On

Adapting to Climate Change in Urbanizing Watersheds(ACCUWA) funded by International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
