Modeling spacio-temporal land use trends in India.

ATREE is initiating an effort to analyse district level secondary data on land-use, rainfall
and population so as to arrive at the major drivers of changes in land-use across the Western
ghats states. The results are to be super-imposed on other variations in market forces,
infrastructural characteristics and government policies. The study is aimed at providing
clues as to what combination of the above factors and drivers actually favour degrading
land-uses after accounting for geographical variations.
