School level activities

  1. Jaycee High School, Ankola
    Audio visual show: Ozone depletion
    A CD on the Ozone layer was shown. The students also enacted a play on how the depletion of the O3 layer is affecting the polar region and the animals that live there and what humans everywhere can do to help stop/repair it.
    Hands on activity: Paper Mask making and poster painting
    Lecture session: Introduction to Phenology
  2. Jaycees School, Sringeri
    8th January: Inauguration and Lecture session on the “Effects of pollution on environment” by Mr. Gajendra Gorasukudige, member, western got conservation task force.
    Hands on activity: Preparation of herbarium and Making of Compost Pit - Aerobic
    Field activity: Identification of medicinal plants at Rishi Vana
  3. S.D.M Aided High School, Ujire
    An exhibition by DNA club members of their collections of photographs, pictures and paintings on flora and fauna and environmental hazards.
  4. Shree Someshwara High School, Tumkur
    Inauguration and Lecture session: The DNA club was inaugurated on the 1st of January. Chief guest Mr. Anandraj of Shree Saraswathi College gave a talk on Biodiversity.
    Lecture session: Vermiculture and preparation of Bio gas
    Web of life game: A game on the Web of life was played in order to understand the interconnection of various elements in the environment
  5. Vyasarajapura Govt. High School, T. Narasipur
    Competitions: Students selected for the state level DNA club competitions participated in school level competition which included poster making, scientific model preparation and debate.

    1. State level DNA club comeptiton
      On 18.01.2010, State level DNA club competition was held at Aversa, Ankola where four DNA club schools took part. The competitions held were in the following categories”
      Speech: How would you like your village to be developed?
      Theme Based Poster: Biodiversity monitoring in and around the school
      Scientific model: Bio resource conservation – water, forest, wildlife, soil, conservation at home
