ATREE Small Grants for Research in North East India 2010

Call for proposals

The Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), Eastern Himalayas Programme, based in Darjeeling, invites project proposals focused on biodiversity conservation from civil society organizations such as NGOs, community based organizations, academic organizations and individual researchers.

Projects proposed should focus on exploration and conservation of the region’s flora and fauna in the Sikkim and Darjeeling Himalayas, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura.

Grants will be provided typically for work in the areas mentioned below:

  • For supporting research and field work to fill critical information gaps in monographic and taxonomic work; building biodiversity databases for existing information in public domain; action research for conservation of Critically Endangered, Endangered and endemic species; and, incremental support to ongoing targeted high impact projects having the potential for immediate conservation impact
  • For supporting scholars for completion of doctoral dissertation on conservation biology with focus on the Eastern Himalayas region of India

Please note that hard copies of proposals will not be accepted. The last date for submission of proposals is 31 May 2010.
