1. Advertisements
Advertisements calling out for application to ATREE's PhD programme will be published in leading journals and magazines by the 15th of March 2008. The last date for receiving applications will be 21st April, and recruitment will be completed by May 10th 2008. Candidates will be selected to appear for an interview on the basis of their academic record, letters of recommendation, statement of research interests and career goals, and prior research experience, if any. Students can take up a full time programme, or opt for a part-time programme if they are employed. Candidates who would qualify for the part-time programme include teachers/lecturers in colleges/universities, employees of the state or central government departments, and employees from non-governmental organizations.
2. Eligibility
The candidate must have a Master's degree in science or humanities
AND
Have qualified one of the following entrance exams: UGC-CSIR (minimum NET), GATE, or equivalent qualifying exam OR have an MPhil degree OR have published at least one peer-reviewed paper as lead author or co-author OR have demonstrated research ability by raising funds for research through a proposal.
The eligibility criteria are the same for candidates seeking full-time or part-time registration to the programme.
3. Application
Candidates seeking to register for the PhD programme at ATREE are required to submit:
- A completed application form.
- Copy of degree certificate, provisional degree, or mark sheets from previous semesters of the completed Masters' degree.
- Written statement of purpose, describing research and career goals (up to 1000 words).
- Confidential reference letters sent directly to ATREE from 2 referees by email or post or fax.
4. Interview
Candidates fulfilling the above requirements will be called to appear for an interview at the ATREE office in Bangalore. The interview will be conducted by an interview panel consisting of 4-5 members. Candidates are required to bring originals of all documents submitted in support of your eligibility.
