Apoorva R, Research Associate

Apoorva has a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering from PES Institute of Technology, Bangalore (2011). An interest in understanding linkages between technology, environmental sustainability and development led her to do an interdisciplinary master’s in Technology and Development (M.Tech.) from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai (2013). She looked into different approaches to assessing soil salinity and examined the status of assessment of salt affected lands at the local scale in the context of Sangli district, Maharashtra. She found that there is a lack of uniformity in protocols and criteria for assessment of salt affected soils and waters among different institutions and there is no mechanism in practice for obtaining reliable estimates of the degraded lands at the village level.
